Artist notes

midsommar is about how easy it is to look past horror when you finally feel “held” by a collective. i used gold foil to capture that blinding high-noon intensity, the kind of light that doesn’t let you hide anything. it’s a celebration and a sacrifice all at once. the flowers eventually become the skin and the individual just disappears into the bloom.
