this piece explores the tension between reinvention and masking. there’s both liberation and loss in the act of transformation, especially when it’s something you feel compelled to do. the scissors suggest control and agency, but also violence. for neurodivergent people, “changing everything” often means masking—becoming palatable, hiding what makes you different. but there’s also genuine belief here in the possibility of becoming, in the self as something fluid rather than fixed.
